Credit report errors
Mistakes on your credit report can cost you loans, apartments, even jobs. When the credit bureaus won't fix their mistake, the law gives you the power to make them.
Consumer protection attorney · North Dakota
You disputed the error. The letters went unanswered. The calls kept coming. I help people across North Dakota fight back against credit report errors, debt collector harassment, and identity theft — and you don't have to be intimidated to start.
Tell me what happenedSound familiar?
“I disputed the error. They never fixed it.”
“The collector keeps calling — my family, my job, everyone.”
“There's a debt on my credit report that isn't mine.”
“I did everything they asked and my score still dropped.”
“I feel like I'm shouting into the void.”
“Nobody takes me seriously when I call.”
None of this is normal, even though it feels that way. And none of it is something you have to just live with.
What I handle
Mistakes on your credit report can cost you loans, apartments, even jobs. When the credit bureaus won't fix their mistake, the law gives you the power to make them.
Collectors have rules. Calls at all hours, threats, calls to your family or your workplace — that's not just annoying, it's often illegal. You don't have to keep answering.
Someone stole your information and wrecked your credit. You shouldn't have to spend years cleaning up a crime you didn't commit. I'll help you clear your name.
“You deserve someone who actually listens — and then actually does something about it.”
The part nobody tells you
Here's the part most people don't know: the laws that protect you — the Fair Credit Reporting Act and the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act — were written to make it possible for regular people to fight back.
When you have a valid case, the company that broke the law can be required to cover attorney fees. That's what lawyers call "fee-shifting," but the plain-English version is simple: most clients never pay attorney fees out of pocket to pursue a valid case.
Your first conversation with me is free, and there's no pressure. We'll talk through what happened, and I'll tell you honestly whether I think you have a case.
A different kind of law firm
I'm a solo attorney, and that's on purpose. No case numbers, no call centers, no handoffs to whoever happens to answer the phone.
The lawyer you meet is the lawyer who handles your case — from the first conversation to the last signature. You'll get updates in plain English, your questions get answered by the person actually doing the work, and you never have to wonder what's happening with your case.
I started Benning Law because I kept meeting people who'd been pushed around by systems far bigger than them — and who assumed a lawyer was out of reach. It isn't. I take the cases the big firms overlook, and I take them personally.
